My Missoula: Soft Landing
Soft Landing Missoula strives to help Missoula, MT be a welcoming, supportive and informed community that can assist refugees and immigrants to integrate and thrive. We focus on building a sustainable effort to engage our community in welcoming refugees and immigrants while celebrating the richness in diversity, culture and experience they bring to our city. Our favorite programming focuses on community education and events, youth and family programming and sharing food from different cultures! We are currently running a winter clothing drive to help collect coats, gloves, hats and snow boots for our new neighbors. Donations can be dropped off at our office between 9am-4pm.
How long have you been in business?
The community effort to bring refugee resettlement back to Missoula started in 2015, with Soft Landing Missoula officially openings its doors in the fall of 2016. Since then, Missoula has received over 300 individual refugees.
Why did you choose to locate your organization downtown/or why is it important?
It was important for us to have a centrally located office on the bus line. We wanted to be accessible for both the community and our refugee clients since we operate a walk-in Community Resource Center.
What are you thankful for in Downtown Missoula and why?
As a small, locally-based non-profit, we rely on our community to support our work with donations and financial gifts. We are so thankful for all of the downtown businesses, like Sushi Hana, Clearwater Federal Credit Union, Five on Black, Create Art Bar, Masala and many others that support us and help make Missoula a welcoming community to all!
